Pantone Colour of The Year: be inspired
Each year, more than 10 million designers and producers around the world rely on Pantone for critical colour decision making through every stage of their workflow. Pantone experts deeply analyse trends and the market before announcing the final selection of their Colour of the Year. Their proficient abilities allow them to forecast designer choices from season to season in every area including, but not limited to, furniture, textile, fashion, and technology.
For this promising year of 2021, Pantone is giving us not just one, but TWO colours!
Ultimate Gray 17-5104 and Illuminating 13-0647, two independent colours that highlight how different elements can come together to support one another.
“The union of an enduring Ultimate Gray with the vibrant yellow Illuminating expresses a message of positivity supported by fortitude. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, this is the colour combination that gives us resilience and hope. We need to feel encouraged and uplifted; this is essential to the human spirit.”
-Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute-
A union of contrasting colours that convey not just a trend, but a message of strength and hope. They share and provide a balance of warmth, dependability, and optimism.
With this reveal, Pantone describes Illuminating as “a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power” and Ultimate Gray as “a solid and dependable element which is everlasting, providing a firm foundation and encouraging feelings of steadiness and resilience”.
