The 4th REKA Interiors Exhibition (RIX) was held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center from 27 – 30 October 2022. Creative minds came together again after 2 years of hiatus, engaging and reconnecting with the interior design fraternity and old friends. Simultaneously, it presented a perfect opportunity for KIAN to share our sustainability solutions in support of the circular economy. With such a goal in mind, we envisioned and built a “plant booth” that was decked with live plants and products made of recycled materials.
Towards A Greener Footprint
RIX is a platform and an annual event held for the interior designers’ community, also a place for other industry experts to come together. Seeing how all aspects of design need to be environmentally friendly in some way, this year’s RIX zoomed into sustainable topics at an industry level.
It was 4 days of thrill with daily forums that highlighted topics from experts in their specialised fields. Our very own chairman, James Ng, spoke about how our ‘green rangers’ are increasingly pushing more efforts into making KIAN office spaces greener and impacting surrounding communities one small step at a time. He was joined by other forces of change, such as Kebun Kebun Bangsar, Batik Boutique, Food Aid Foundation and many more.

Highlights from Our Booth
KIAN started off a sustainable journey with our Louvre Chair, made from ocean-bound plastics. Over the course of time spent on research and development and collaborating with eco-partners, we’re expanding more on our product range. Today, we provide solutions made from these sustainable materials:
Rice Husk Composite
Wood Plastic Composite
Reclaimed Denim Jeans Fibre
Aquaclean Ocean Fabric

These items were showcased at our booth, alongside our live plants that encapsulated our products and structure nicely. Natural green walls, moss and potted plants brought out our modular Regeneration line by Nardi, namely Sipario and Stack & Combo collection that is perfect for an outdoor setting. Complete with rice husk composite decking and planters, this rejuvenating scene invited passersby for a breath of fresh air amidst the hustle and bustle of the event.

To add to the excitement, we won the Best of RIX Stand (Bronze) and Best of RIX Product award with our FLEXX series. Hence, we would like to give our appreciation to the board of Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers for recognizing good design, as well as the Interior Design community and everyone for their support. We look forward to the next event!
